I've lived here fifty years but am still getting to know the neighborhood in different ways. Here is how.

# Portland
On my first days here I no longer knew my way about except by freeway. That was weird. Then things got better, and get better still. That is my story.
I've lived my whole life in Indiana and Oregon. When maps became available online I sought to use them to document all of my homes.
We list bicycles we have owned or used extensively and reflect on how we came to appreciate them. The list is roughly chronological. We include a couple of motorcycles because we only had two.
# Pandemic
This story starts with the pandemic when my horizons narrowed to quiet and safe places nearby.
I leave the house about once a week to bicycle around the neighborhoods. I look for little trails I might have missed when I had more important places to go.
We compare lists we update with each new place we visit. Working usually in this order we return here when we think we are done. check ![]()
Federated wiki is a database of sorts since we can put data on pages and those pages persist. Here we look at recent progress aggregating data from pages based on real experience with geolocated images.
We take and share a well crafted photograph every day. Each week we start a new page and let the first photograph set an agenda for the week.
# Running
I eventually abandon the bike and set out on foot. I struggle at first. The strive for speed which I give up for safty.
We've configured TTGO TBeam Tracker to record spot reports as they arrive every 20 seconds. We save tracks for further analysis and visualization. helium ![]()
I recored visits to trails where bikes were not welcome. For no good reason I chose not to devote a site to these pages. Now can I find them all based on page naming conventions I have adopted.
We often route our runs through park trails and now will choose directions to mix up our week. leaflet ![]()
